WHY USE MONTANA GREEN INSULATION?
Our wool all comes from the United States Wool Clip and is not imported from foreign companies
WOOL IS A BETTER INSULATION PRODUCT
Wool Fibers keep a pocket of air around them allowing for a higher R-value then conventional insulation
WOOL IS HYPOALLERGENIC
Some people are allergic to the lanolin in wool, but we scour our wool with hypoallergenic soaps, leaving our wool insulation lanolin free, odor free and naturally clean.
WOOL WICKS MOISTURE
Which in turn, makes moisture pass though the wool. Mold and mildew do not grow in wool as it doesn’t retain the moisture for mold and mildew to grow in
WOOL HAS ANTIBACTERIAL PROPERTIES
Making your walls and attics healthier for your family
WOOL ACTS LIKE A FILTER
Trapping dust and chemicals like formaldehyde, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide, keeping your air healthier and safer.
The Insulation Making Process
Wool that goes into Montana Green Insulation is all sourced from United States sheep producers. The raw wool that comes into our facility is weighed and hand picked. This process sorts the big chunks of junk out of the wool such as manure, tags, twigs and large vegetable matter as well as the occasional glove or cap. The wool is then sent through a duster/beater. This knocks smaller debris out of the wool and prepares it for scouring.
We scour our wool in-house, making sure it is done properly, using biodegradable soap and reusing our water. Our scouring train is 120 feet long and weighs 105 tons and has four separate bowls to rinse and wring water out of the wool. We scour our wool in hot water using a biodegradable soap. The final bowl is where we add the Polybor to the wool which is a safe boron product that adds to the wools fire protection abilities and keeps insects and vermin out of the insulation after it is installed.
After our wool is scoured, it is dried, processed, packaged and sent out to be used in the greenest buildings in the United States.
All of our wool from Montana Green Insulation is produced from animals born and raised in the USA. Our wool is completely owned by USA citizens and processed in Montana in our small green factory.
We guarantee the quality of our insulation will meet the R-value standards shown to the left. The R-Value of Sheep Wool is 3.75 per inch, thus creating a much higher R-value than in most other types of insulation.
